TopSwap collects information you provide when creating an account, including your name, email address, and residential address (for verification purposes). We also collect listing data (titles, descriptions, photos), messages between members, push notification tokens, and usage information to provide and improve our services. If you choose instant identity verification, we also collect payment information and government-issued ID data as described in Section 4.
We verify your residential address by mailing a physical postcard with a unique code. Your address is stored securely and is never shared with other users. Only your name appears on your public profile.
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers listed below, each limited to the data required for their specific function. We require all processors to handle your data in accordance with applicable privacy law.
What we share: Listing titles, descriptions, and photos (for AI-assisted content moderation and automated listing generation). Search queries (for AI-powered search, available to Plus members).
Why: Our platform uses Claude to automatically classify listing content against our community guidelines, to generate listing drafts from photos, and to translate natural-language search queries into structured filters. Content is sent to Anthropic's API at the time of the operation and is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
What we share: Your full name and mailing address.
Why: Lob prints and mails the physical verification postcard to your address. Data is governed by Lob's Privacy Policy.
What we share: Your email address and the transactional email content (account notifications, listing activity, verification messages).
Why: Resend is our email delivery provider. Data is governed by Resend's Privacy Policy.
What we share: For members who choose instant identity verification: name, email address, payment card data, and government-issued ID plus a selfie (processed by Stripe Identity). TopSwap does not store raw payment card numbers or government ID images — these are handled entirely by Stripe.
Why: Stripe processes the $2 instant-verification payment and runs the Stripe Identity document + biometric check as an alternative to the postcard flow. Data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy. Stripe's handling of biometric and identity data is subject to Stripe's own terms with the end user.
What we share: Error reports that may include device type, operating system, browser version, the page URL where an error occurred, and stack traces. Sentry session replay is enabled at a low sample rate for sessions containing errors; inputs (including address fields) are masked before transmission. We do not intentionally transmit personally identifiable information to Sentry.
Why: Error monitoring and debugging. Data is governed by Sentry's Privacy Policy.
What we share: Page views, feature interactions, and (for signed-in members) your TopSwap user ID, name, and email for event attribution. IP-based geolocation is disabled. Session recording is disabled.
Why: Product analytics — understanding how members use the platform so we can improve it. Data is governed by PostHog's Privacy Policy.
What we share: Your device's push notification token.
Why: To deliver push notifications to the TopSwap mobile app. Tokens are routed through Expo's push service, which in turn uses Apple Push Notification service (APNs) for iOS and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for Android. The notification payload (title and body) passes through these services. Data is governed by Expo's Privacy Policy, Apple's Privacy Policy, and Google's Privacy Policy.
The data categories disclosed in Section 4 correspond to the data types declared in our App Store App Privacy nutrition label and the Google Play Data Safety form. If you believe there is a discrepancy, please contact us at privacy@topswap.app.
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time through your account settings. This permanently removes your listings, messages, reviews, and personal information from our systems.
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
